Here at The Crafty Vintner, we have a gorgeous bunch of rosés, perfect for summer sipping! Whether you’re after a sweet, full-bodied wine, or a light, paler bottle, we’ve got you covered.
First up we have 11 Minutes, so named because the wine spends exactly 11 minutes in contact with the skins of the Corvina, Trebbiano, Syrah, and Camenere grapes that make up the wine. This is what gives it a gorgeous pink colour and allows the wine to remain light in body. From the Veneto region of Italy, a glass of this pink delight conjures up aromas of peach, lemon zest, and ripe red berry. The palate boasts red berry flavours and finishes with subtle spice.
Next up we have Sancerre Rosé from Domaine Sautereau. Made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes this pale pink wine from France’s Loire Valley has a creamy complexity and a fresh acidity that give it perfect balance. Fresh summer berry aromas carry through to the palate where there is also a slight citrus note. This rosé is every bit as elegant as its more famous Sauvignon Blanc cousin.
From Spanish Rioja we present Conde Valdemar’s Rosé offering. This producer has always been a favourite with our customers, and the rosé brings a light, fruity addition to the range. Made from Garnacha and Viura this rosé brings a delicate, floral aroma alongside the raspberry and strawberry notes. A light palate of raspberry and subtle pink grapefruit leads to a lingering finish. Don’t over chill this beautiful wine or you may miss out on some of the fantastic flavour.
If you prefer the fruitier, livelier Californian style of rosé then look no further than Sierra Creek White Zinfandel. A fuller colour, and a tempting raspberry strawberry palate make this a great wine for pairing with summer salads or barbeques. Made from the Zinfandel grape – California’s name for the Italian Primitivo, Sierra Creek is an easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed all year long.
Let us also take this opportunity to introduce a newcomer at Crafty: Rosa Regale. This light sparkling red (okay so it’s not a full-on rosé but trust us on this one) is made from 100% Brachetto grapes and comes from a single vineyard in Aqui Terme in southern Piedmont. At only 7% ABV this sparkling wine is summer fun in a glass, with flavours of rose, almond, strawberry, and nutmeg. A must try!
